How it all began …

In 2014, Circus Balloni was approached by a Turkish association for support. In Mardin/TR, ‘Sirkhane’ operates
various centers where Syrian refugee children receive an education, but are also allowed to play circus. It’s about a daily structure, but also fun and games for young people who have already lost a lot and whose parents don’t have the dream of Western Europe, but want to return to Syria as soon as possible. Lucas Cadonau initially flew
In 2016, we traveled to Mardin with three huge suitcases full of circus material, donated costumes and money donations and were able to see the work for ourselves on site. In 2017, Lucas attended the circus school in Pervomaisc (Transnistria-Moldova). The contact came about through a former Balloni artist who had enjoyed his basic training there. We also helped this school with a suitcase full of props. In 2018, we launched another collection campaign for Mardin. This time, Gian and Kurt traveled there for two weeks, again with costumes and an even bigger “chunk” in their luggage.

This gave rise to the idea and desire to expand this support and to support circus projects, circus schools and circus performances in other places too. The idea of the “Plume” association was born. In future, Circus Balloni would like to use him to strengthen its commitment to disadvantaged children and young people in various places around the world.
